broad stripes...bright stars...that's the spirit!

good morning, long holiday weekend!

it's the perfect day to wrap onerself in bright stars after a morning sugar scrub!

are you setting the table for a family picnic in the sun?

you might be "dolling up"  for a late springtime performance
of Coppelia! (love the nude shoes)

lately, i'm digging Sperry! have you visited their site lately?

today, i will be wearing my blue jeans, and pinning the stars and stripes to
my SWEET market bag. Mr D and i will be hitting the local farmers market(s)
and picking up the easel for the flat screen.  we're also going to this kookie
furniture store called The Cannery. they feature some v e r y   i n t e r e s t i n g  items.

most times, i cannot find anything that appeals to me, but last year i was quite taken this
piece! perfect rustic French bread.(something totally unexpected for The Cannery.)
we did not buy it, but it was fun to photograph.
they have free hot dogs and soda today! i will go expecting the unexpected!

Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May. It was formally known as Decoration Day and commemorates all men and women, who have died in military service for the United States. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day and it is traditionally seen as the start of the summer season.

i wear this holiday's colors with spirit, with pride,
with gratitude, and...

going to share an easy dessert  today. i ended up not
making it!  (we still have chocolate chip cookies in the cookie

visions of berries and cream dancing in my head...our girlies are coming to dinner tonight !!

with every one's busy schedule we don't often get together for week night
dinners. H.G's daddy has a meeting tonight, so our girlies are coming to visit!
this means... that berries and cream will be on the menu!
~visit Samantha Lamb here~

at the present H.G. is CRAZY for strawberries!

since it's a work day, i won't have time to make strawberry and cream
French macarons. (Holland is not quite ready to eat  them yet.)
i pinned  this image with recipe so i can make them for her
first birthday party.  aren't they pretty?

for tonight... the list:
i am also planning an easy dessert for Mr D.
i'll share it tomorrow!

sweet son of mine!

he's a perfect example of  turning cant's into cans, and dreams into plans.
his twitter profile states that "ordinary people can do extraordinary things".

Jay, interviewing one of his mentors, ESPN's  Kirk Herbstreit, while covering the Boise State Broncos
at the Maaco Bowl  in Las Vegas.

last summer, he moved from Lewiston, to report for the number one station in
Boise, Idaho. Mr D and i are planning a trip to visit him in June. you may read his profile on
the KTVB website, if you wish
this photo was taken while visiting Jay in Lewiston, last summer.

Jay arrived on this day, 28 years ago!

happy birthday, sweet son of mine!
